On Saturday March 21st 2020, 2pm – 4:30pm, St. Mary’s Church Wilshaw will be opening its doors as a quiet place for bereaved parents, where a candle may be lit and a photo left (if you wish) in remembrance. You are welcome to arrive anytime between 2pm & 4:30pm and you may stay for just a few minutes or the full two and a half hours. Refreshment will be served in the Sunday School, allowing time to talk if appropriate to you.

Over the last 6 years services have been held for bereaved parents and there is an alter cloth with the names of all the children who have been remembered. These names will be presented on a large screen throughout the afternoon and you are warmly invited to add the name of your child to the alter cloth.

St. Marys Church was built by bereaved parents who wanted to bury their daughter nearby. Mary (pictured above) was the name of their 23 years old child who died during childbirth in 1963.

The afternoon has been arranged by Jacqueline who lost a child and felt there was a need to support parents who have suffered the worst kind of loss and has arranged the day near mothers day as this can be a difficult time for parents, in the hope of bringing some comfort with happy memories in a safe place.

Anyone who would like more information can contact Jacqueline on 01484 663867.
