We are privileged to be able to place a Christmas tree at the front of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden for their annual Christmas tree festival. Through this festive period the church will be visited by many people. Whilst attending the various services they can also admire the Christmas trees decorated by many of our local organisations which are on display.
November 10th saw the launch of a charity calendar put together by Marsh Women’s Institute to raise money for Pennine Domestic Violence, taking place at the Junction Inn, Marsh.
We were very pleased to be able to attend the launch and meet Miss April, the month we had sponsored.
November brought the Holmfirth Choral Societies production of Elijah by Mendelssohn, sponsored by Pearson Funeral Service, which saw guest appearances by internationally acclaimed bass baritone Matthew Brooke, Bethany Seymour, Sally Perkins and David Heathcote. This was a fabulous performance by all and great enjoyed by us and the rest of the audience.
November 12th saw the annual remembrance parade, which took place in Marsden Village, with over 200 people taking part. Members of Pearson Funeral Service helped out with marshalling the parade.
At the war cenotaph Skye Knight laid a wreath for the British Institute of Funeral Directors and Leanne Pearson laid a wreath from the National Association of Funeral Director
On November 11th members of the Pearson family walked across Marsden moor to attend the memorial service on Pule Hill, where a wreath was laid at the memorial cross to remember the Duke of Wellington’s 7th Battalion. This was a well attended service with a Former member of the Yorkshire Regiment reciting For the Fallen.
